A CIVIL engineering company has been appointed to deliver £2.5m work on a housing development.

HMH Civils is overseeing a contract on the Wynyard Park estate, based between Hartlepool and Stockton.

Officials say the agreement includes creating roads and sewers for self-build plots, with pockets of land made available for people to design and create their own homes.

They added it is Stockton-based HMH Civils’ third deal for Wynyard Park, adding the work has so far helped create ten full-time jobs and supported 250 construction sector posts.

John Hughes, HMH Civils director, said the agreement was another coup for the business and a reflection of its sector repute.

He said: “Our aim is always to provide value in engineering for our clients and to show the best value we can.

“This new contract shows that we are delivering on that.

“This is also not only good news for us, it has a positive knock-on effect locally.

“Wherever possible we employ local labour so it means jobs and investment for this area too.”

HMH Civils was only set up three years ago, but has quickly grown its presence, with work across civil engineering and housebuilding projects generating contracts across the North-East and North Yorkshire.

Matt Johnson, Wynyard Park’s development director, said he was delighted to be working alongside the business, highlighting the positive impact on the regional economy.

He added: “Wynyard Park is a significant development for the Teesside area and we are committed to using local companies and suppliers wherever we can.

“Therefore, we are very pleased to be working with HMH Civils, who have in turn created local jobs.

“Our scheme is backed by private investment and we are very proud to be having a positive impact on the local economy.

“The project we have appointed HMH Civils to work on is the result of high demand for our self-build plots, so the investment is set to continue.”
