A CONTROL panel maker hopes to create jobs and secure larger projects in an expansion.

AR Controls says it wants to recruit five workers, including two apprentices, by the end of the year.

The Sunderland business, which is also known for safety system design and upgrade work, has taken on a 16,000sq ft base at Sunrise Enterprise Park after outgrowing two sites in the city, which bosses say will provide much-needed growth space.

The move to the £600,000 premises was made possible after the firm gained the support of Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, which put forward a £500,000 funding package.

Andy Ramsey, director, said: “We’ve seen considerable growth over the past year with an increased demand for our services as we continue to strengthen customer relationships.

“The funding from Lloyds has enabled us to invest in the new premises, increase process efficiencies and continue with our plans to diversify services.”

Dean Whitlie, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said the organisation was delighted to support AR Controls, which employs 20 staff and has an annual turnover of £1.5m.

He added: “There are a number of untold positive stories in the North-East.

“AR Controls is a prime example of a business going from strength-to-strength and taking full advantage of the opportunities available across the region.”
