A ROOFING and cladding company says it has been “overwhelmed” after launching a recruitment drive.

CA Group Limited is looking to add 20 workers to its rota in a bid to keep up with demand.

The business, based in Evenwood, near Bishop Auckland, says it has already filled 12 shopfloor roles and positions across ordering and buying departments.

However, Neil Alderson, managing director of CA Building Products, which is the company’s principal manufacturing division, said bosses still want more staff to carry out IT, design and data analysis work, as well as an engineering graduate or undergraduate.

Mr Alderson said the additions will enable the company, which previously worked on Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club’s Amex Stadium, to maintain its industry momentum, revealing it recently supported construction of the £140m Rushden Lakes retail and leisure complex in Northamptonshire.

He said: “We have been overwhelmed by the level of interest and already a large number of the positions have been filled with excellent candidates.

“However, some positions are proving more challenging and we are keen to get the message out there to as many people as possible that might have the skills that we need.

“CA is an innovative business with an enthusiastic workforce at the heart of its success.

“We are committed to developing our employees, many of whom have been with the business for more than ten years, by offering the relevant training and support.

“These are exciting opportunities for specialists keen on expanding their horizons and honing their skills”.

Referring to itself as one of the UK’s leading metal roofing and cladding system manufacturers and contractors, CA Group was founded in the 1980s.

The company’s order book includes work for Sainsbury’s, Vantec and Sports Direct, with BBC Media City, in Salford, just one of its stellar contracts.

Its divisions include CA Roofing Services and CA Specialist Cladding Systems, while it also runs CA Refurbishment Projects, which oversees maintenance programmes, roof conversions and building cladding replacement.
