A TRANSPORT, storage and crane business is eyeing further growth after a warehouse move helped drive up turnover and take staff levels to new heights.

The Nicholson Group says it confounded challenging markets to post stronger results in 2016.

The business, based at Billingham, near Stockton, includes Nicholson’s Transport, storage business Box Clever and crane division Nicholson Hiab.

It previously moved into a 15,000sq ft warehouse on Durham Lane Industrial Estate, in Eaglescliffe, also near Stockton, to cater for greater customer demand across Darlington and County Durham, and Bob Forster, Nicholson Group chairman, said it has had a positive effect.

He said: “We predicted 2016 would be a busy year and that has proved to be the case.

“Eaglescliffe is up to capacity, but we have also moved some of our Box Clever self-storage unit operations there to meet demand from the Eaglescliffe and Yarm area.

“Nicholson’s Transport has also continued to prosper in challenging economic conditions but I am most proud of our workforce.

“We are now at 60 staff and they all share a commitment to the values of the group.”
