A TRAINING company is creating jobs as it expands into Yorkshire.

KF Training, based in Peterlee, east Durham, has secured a number of deals in the county.

The business, founded by Kelly Lee in 2011, employs more than 50 people and provides training across areas such as innovation, leadership and management.

After gaining repute in the North-East, it has switched its attention to Yorkshire, with its order book now including a deal with Sheffield-based stainless steel maker Outokumpu.

Outokumpu will put a number of supervisors through KF Training’s leadership and management programme, which will eventually be rolled out across its 113-strong Sheffield workforce.

Sara O’Brien, KF Training commercial director, said: “Our partnership with Outokumpu is one of several contract wins in Yorkshire, which is a key part of our growth strategy.

“This part of the country has a range of training needs in key growth sectors, including advanced manufacturing, healthcare technologies and life sciences.

“We are recruiting staff who can help us achieve our goal of building our presence in the county.”

Barbara Ayres, Outokumpu HR manager, added: “We are continually looking at ways of improving the skills base of our employees and we highlighted a need in our first line supervisory team.

“As a result of our partnership, more than 100 people will get an opportunity to learn special techniques that will help them develop and improve the performance of their teams.

“This will be vital as we look to succeed in an ever more competitive environment in the stainless steel and advanced materials markets.”
