A FAMILY-RUN lighting and electrical firm is targeting further growth after opening a new showroom.

Harbro Electrical, in Peterlee, east Durham, has revamped its base on South West Industrial Estate.

The company, founded in 1994, works with businesses including Seaham Hall and Wynyard Hall, and employs seven people.

Owner Phil Harbord says its investment will allow for further growth in its LED lighting division, which accounts for 75 per cent of sales.

Mr Harbord said: “With rising energy costs more and more businesses are looking at how they save money and that has resulted in many turning to LED lighting.

“It’s such a big market for us, so the investment in the showroom is money well spent.”

Harbro Electrical, which also supplies parts to trade, has seen annual turnover rise to £1.3m, and Mr Harbord says its showroom will increase that to around £1.6m in the next financial year.

He added: “We’re seeing our customer base and turnover increase.

“We’re a North-East business with our roots firmly in the region and after completing the refit of our showroom, we are excited about what the future holds.”
