A SOFTWARE firm has secured a contract to help an energy company’s power plants operate efficiently.
Quorum Development, based at NetPark, in Sedgefield, County Durham, is working with EDF Energy.
The firm provides software to customers across the power generation sector, and says its systems are being used at EDF power stations and its training centre.
John Sherban, Quorum’s commercial director, said the contract represents a real coup for Quorum, adding it is benefiting from the support of Business Durham to continue its expansion.
He said: “The software has been well received by all parties and our expertise has been praised during the implementation by EDF.
“Business Durham has given us the commercial space and support we need to expand, and we are looking forward to doing so over the next 12 months.”
Quorum works across Europe, allowing customers in Germany, Belgium and Denmark to monitor and trade electricity and gas.
Dr Simon Goon, managing director of Business Durham, Durham County Council’s business division, said its successes proved the quality of companies based at NetPark.
Dr Goon added: “We’re very pleased to see this relatively new tenant achieving such fantastic things.
“Hopefully this is a sign of more good progress to come and Business Durham will support them wherever possible.”
