A CIVIL engineering company’s emergency drain clearing division has added to its team and upgraded its technology.

HCS Drain Services, part of The Owen Pugh Group, which operates from a base in Stockton, says Paul Laidler is its new operations manager, with Paul Bowers taking on the role of planning manager.

The division has also spent £70,000 on traffic management software to make sure its drivers and fleet operate more efficiently.

Mr Laidler boasts 20 years’ experience in the drainage industry, spending nearly 15 years with Lanes Group, and will undertake undertake health and safety audits and produce risk assessments at HCS.

Mr Bowers worked in Darlington Borough Council’s environmental team for 18 years, and will look at ways to improve HCS’ customer service.

Chris Raby, HCS general manager, said: “They both boast a wealth of experience, which will be a huge asset as we continue on our growth.

“Also, by installing the software in our vehicles, we will be able to undertake better route planning, ensuring we operate as efficiently as possible.”

HCS Drain Services’ work includes CCTV sewer surveys, drain re-lining, repairs and installation.
