WHO is your North-East hero?

Newcastle International Airport is calling on people from across the region to put forward suggestions of local heroes and celebrities to appear on a wall of fame in its soon-to-open Bar 11.

The wall aims to recognise anyone from the community, business or celebrity world with strong links to the region. Those selected will take pride of place on the commemorative wall within the new bar, which is to open on April 1.

With only 30 profiles to be featured, Wallsend-born Gordon Sumner – better known by his stage name Sting – has already secured a place on the wall.

Members of the public are asked to submit their suggestions to Natalia.Dipalma@ssp.uk.com by March 10.

Submissions should include the name of the person nominated, their job or role and a short paragraph or sentence on what makes them a local hero or noteworthy regional celebrity.

Winners will be selected by a special panel and the winning entries will be displayed on the wall of fame in Bar 11.

The new bar is part of the airport’s new £14m development of its departure lounge. Bar 11 will be operated by SSP UK.
