AN engineering firm says it has come to the rescue of firefighters after providing training equipment.
C&A Pumps and Engineering, in Hartlepool, says it has worked on temperature gauges for Tyne and Wear Brigade and Cleveland Fire Brigade.
Alan Roberts, C&A Pumps’ managing director, said Cleveland had struggled to find a company to get the equipment because of its unique nature.
He said: “Their training facility is a big part of what they do and the temperature of the training base must be correctly measured in high heats to ensure maximum safety.
“Cleveland approached their colleagues in Tyne and Wear to see if they had any advice, and it turned out they had used us in the past.
“We’re over the road from their headquarters in Hartlepool, which meant they didn’t have far to go and in six weeks of us being contacted, the sensor had been refitted and the service was back up and running.”
Anthony Petrie, Cleveland Fire Brigade’s maintenance manager, praised C&A Pumps for its speed and expertise.
He said: “We’ve used the company in the past for various maintenance and our pumps and drainage, but this was a completely different challenge for us.
“No companies in the region had managed to provide a solution, but C&A did.”
