A NORTH-EAST lighting company has illuminated an advertising display beside one of London's most famous landmarks.

Middlesbrough-based amBX has supplied its patented Light Scene Engine for advertising surrounding the Eros statue in Piccadilly Circus.

The amBX system allows the user to choose colours, light sequences and speeds and update these as many times as they like remotely, decreasing the need to have staff on site.

amBX recently opened a studio at Teesside University to increase its capacity for design and development of its lighting control technology. The company plans to expand its base in the Middlesbrough studio as demand for its products grows.

Neil MacDonald, the chief operating officer at amBX, said: "A few months ago I called on the outdoor advertising sector to harness the real power of lighting for their media content. It's great to see such a high profile project take this on."

The Eros Christmas display ill stay in place until January 3.
