A CABLE firm has secured a deal to send equipment to an offshore project.
JDR Cable Systems, in Hartlepool, will design and make a steel cable for Wintershall Noordzee, which will operate on the North Sea Ravn oil development.
Bosses say the 18.2km (11 miles) cabling will provide power and connect two platforms together off the Danish coast.
They added it will be made at JDR’s Hartlepool base and delivered next year.
The contract comes just days after The Northern Echo revealed JDR had won a deal to supply 105km (65 miles) of cabling to the Vattenfall AB Sandbank offshore wind farm.
Work on the 72-turbine development, off Germany’s North Sea coast, is expected to start next year.
The company employs about 160 workers in the North-East.
