A WASTE management firm operating a North-East plant says it hopes to create more jobs in the region.
Augean, which manages landfill sites at Port Clarence, near Middlesbrough, said it expects to invest further at the site.
Bosses told The Northern Echo their plans after revealing group revenues were seven per cent higher at £24.9m for the six months to June 30.
Bosses added adjusted pre-tax profits were 121 per cent higher at £2.2m, with earnings before before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increasing 101 per cent to £4.4m.
Net debt stood at £8.9m.
The firm employs about 20 staff at its North-East site, which looks after hazardous and non-hazardous waste and operates an advanced waste recovery park to treat drill cuttings and refinery sludges from offshore work.
Dr Stewart Davies, chief executive, added: "Port Clarence is very important for us in terms of our long-term future.
"There is a really positive story for development at Port Clarence and we expect further investment to start soon, which we expect will bring some new jobs."
