BARCLAYS has opened a new office on Newcastle Quayside.
The move to represents one of the biggest real estate deals to have taken place in the city in recent years.
It sees the bank's corporate team, previously based at Grey Street, share offices with their wealth and investment management colleagues who were based at Westgate Road.
The new premises will accommodate about 100 staff and will enable the growing team to continue to offer the full range of corporate banking, investment and private banking.
Brian Thorpe, the head of Barclays Corporate Banking in the North-East said: “Newcastle is a fantastic place to do business and the move to the new offices is major investment for the city and the North East. It will offer an excellent environment for both our clients and our employees and enables us to bring our banking operations under one roof as well as demonstrating our ongoing commitment to the local economy and wealth creation in the region.”
