A TRAINING consultancy firm aims to double its workforce as it enhances its reputation.

Building Capacity Ltd delivers training programmes across the UK in healthcare, education, shipping and manufacturing, and is now targeting the small and medium-sized business market.

Employing 12 training, recruitment and human resources staff, bosses hope to increase that figure in the next 18 months.

The Wallsend company has secured a five-figure investment from the Finance For Business North East Growth Fund, which is administered by regional fund management firm NEL Fund Managers, to help meet growing market demand.

RMT Accountants and Business Advisors, who have worked with Building Capacity since 2010, supported the management team through the investment process.

Vanessa Jones, Building Capacity director of partnerships, said: “Taking a one size fits all approach to training isn’t good enough anymore.

“Companies rightly demand support which fits their particular needs.

“The NEL and RMT teams were both very focused when it came to putting everything together.”

Jane Siddle, investment executive at NEL Fund Managers, added: “Building Capacity have had the vision to realise how much more they could do with the right resources behind them.”

Aimed at regional businesses at a development and growth stage, the growth fund forms part of the wider Finance for Business North East Fund.

Managed by North East Finance, it will see £125m invested into the region by the European Investment Bank and the European Regional Development Fund.
