A SOCIAL enterprise which helps members of the Armed Forces community start their own businesses has set up its first regional base outside London in the North-East.

X-Forces was established to help military veterans and the wider forces’ community to become entrepreneurs.

Launched by Lord Young in July 2013, X-Forces has the backing of several high profile sponsors, including CISCO and Barclays, and offers support from planning and advice to mentoring and funding.

From its new hub in Newcastle the organisation will offer free support to service-leavers, veterans, reservists and their spouses.

X-Forces will be running its first workshop, which considers how to take the first steps into entrepreneurship, on Tuesday April 29 at The Beacon, Westgate Road.
