A TRAFFIC management firm has created new North-East jobs to continue its expansion.

2 Works Traffic Management, which has a site in Consett, County Durham, has secured £300,000 funding, which it says will help secure larger contracts.

Bosses say the financial support, from Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre, will allow it to take on six workers, taking its North-East workforce to 18.

The company specialises in traffic control as well as providing road closures, and has a division installing overhead power lines.

It expects turnover to increase from £3m this year to £5m by the end of 2014, and added the financial package means it can take on 20 workers, with 14 posts created at sites in Bolton and Brighouse, in West Yorkshire.

Chris Hart, 2 Works' managing director, said: “We wouldn’t be creating jobs and winning major contracts if it was not for Yorkshire Bank's team’s expertise in growing businesses.”

Sean Williams, head of Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre, said it was delighted to be supporting the firm.

He said: “Against an improving economic backdrop, we are focused on supporting the investment and growth ambitions of the business community, and 2 Works represents all that's good about entrepreneurial spirit.”

The firm's customers include Morrison Utility Services, the UK’s leading utility service contractor, with 2 Works providing traffic management and power line installation from Yorkshire to the Scottish Borders.
