Oil Consultants, in Washington, Wearside, opens office in Houston
A GROWING oil and gas recruitment specialist says it could create new North-East jobs after continuing its global expansion.
The firm, which employs more than 40 people, was founded in 1999 by oil industry workers, and has more than 16,000 consultants on its books working for companies across the world.
Earlier this year, it picked up its second Queen's Award for Enterprise in international trade.
Helen Smith, Oil Consultants' chief executive, said: “We have always realised the importance of providing local support to our clients and consultants.
“In a time when more agencies are doing business through the internet and telephone, having people on the ground really helps us differentiate ourselves.
“We have appointed Jon Marrs as chief executive for the North America region, who is developing a team based out of Houston.
“This model was pioneered by our Australian office and that team has already increased business so that it now accounts for more than 20 per cent of company turnover.
“North America is a region of huge potential growth for us and we fully expect to repeat these successes in that area.
“However, while we are looking to grow the Houston team, we will also need more staff in the UK to support increased business, and we are fully committed to keeping and developing our base in this region.”
