Inflation rate unchanged at 2.7%
UK inflation measured by the consumer prices index (CPI) was 2.7 per cent in September, unchanged from August.
The retail prices index (RPI) measure of inflation fell slightly to 3.2 per cent from 3.3 per cent in August.
A rise in the cost of air fares was offset by a downward contribution from petrol and diesel prices, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
The ONS said the latest numbers continued the trend of broadly steady inflation seen since spring 2012.
