Winn Group, in Newcastle, signs deal with JZ International and Souter
A SOLICITORS firm, set up by its founder after a car crashed into his vehicle, says it hopes to create a number of North-East jobs thanks to a major investment deal.
Winn Group is now partners with JZ International and Souter Investment Group, which bosses say will fuel its growth and build on the 22 posts it has already created this year.
The company, which employs more than 290 workers, and has headquarters in Byker, Newcastle, works in road traffic accident claims, and says the deal will allow it to expand its services across the UK.
Under the deal, a member of JZI and Souter will sit on the parent company board alongside Winn’s directors.
Winn Group was set up in 2002 by Jeff Winn and Ghazala Bashey after they were left frustrated by losses incurred from insurers, and the pair founded the practice to specialise in claiming directly from those at fault.
Mr Winn said: “The investment is recognition of the excellent business we have built up and confidence that we will further develop our work.
“We aim to expand the business significantly in the next few years, creating even more new jobs in the region, and this investment gives us the backing to do that.”
The deal was brokered by accountants Tait Walker and law firm Muckle.
Robert Phillips, Muckle partner and head of its corporate team, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Jeff and his team to advise on this investment.
“We've really enjoyed injecting private equity into a law firm, particularly one with such potential, and any private equity transaction in our region is good news.”
