Music Tutor Direct rolls services out nationwide
A NORTH-EAST music tuition company, which received backing from Sir Richard Branson, has continued its expansion after rolling out its services nationwide.
Music Tutor Direct, founded by Michael Hughes, offers guitar, piano and percussion lessons across the North-East, and has more than 100 customers.
The firm, helped by a £5,000 loan, was helped by the Government's Start-Up Loans programme, with support from a consortium including Virgin Money, Virgin Unite, Project North-East and the Northern Rock Foundation.
Mr Hughes says customers can now sign up and search for tutors, but now have the option of arranging appointments tailor-made to their requirements, adding musicians can also rate their tutors.
He said: “Previously, there would be situations where more than one person would want the same time for a lesson, a bit like a first come served basis, but way it's more transparent and easier for people to use.”
