Vodafone, who sponsor the McLaren Mercedes Formula One team, discusses Verizon stake
MOBILE phone company Vodafone has confirmed it is in talks over the sale of interests in the US.
The company, which sponsors the McLaren Mercedes Formula One team, has revealed it is in discussions over a potential sale of a 45 per cent stake in Verizon Wireless.
It is believed that partner Verizon Communications wants to pay about £64bn for the stake, although reports have said that Vodafone is pressing for as much as £83.8bn.
The is likely to set aside a large part of the US sale proceeds on debt repayments and share buy backs, as well as a war chest for acquisitions.
