Newcastle Falcons teams up with Barbour
THEY triumphed on the pitch last season, and a rugby team will now be striving for more success in this year's campaign after signing a deal with a famous clothing brand.
Newcastle Falcons, who beat Bedford in May's Championship final to secure a return to English rugby's elite, has teamed up with Barbour, who are now the club's official clothing partner.
Barbour, who have a factory in South Shields, South Tyneside, and are famous for its waxed jackets, will provide jackets, shirts and trousers for players to wear off the pitch, including when travelling to matches, community days and school visits.
Paul Varley, Falcons' chief executive, said: “Now we are back in the Aviva Premiership, we are delighted to have such a strong local partner as Barbour backing us.
“We are continually striving to improve every aspect of the club and the quality of the Barbour brand will play a significant part in driving us forward.”
Helen Barbour, Barbour vice-chairman, added: “Rugby is synonymous with our brand and whenever you go to a match, you see fans in our clothing.
“It will be fantastic to see the Falcon players in Barbour, and this deal is an excellent example of two North-East companies working together.”
