Durham Tees Flight Training acquires fellow North-East firm
A FLIGHT training school says it is ready to really take off after unveiling expansion plans.
Durham Tees Flight Training (DTFT) has bought St George Flight Training, based at Durham Tees Valley and Newcastle Airports.
Bosses say the all St George staff, instructors and aircrafts will be retained, with the expanded business using 15 aircraft and 13 instructors across the two sites.
St George, which delivers courses for commercial pilot licences and instructor rating, was owned by captain Eric Reed, who has now retired, and its Teesside operation merge with DTFT, with its Newcastle base merging with Northumbria Flying School.
Bosses at DTFT say the move will allow them to improve their aircraft fleet and add new services for students and hirers.
David Ripley, DTFT managing director, said: “Captain Reed and the staff at St George Flight Training built and operated an excellent and very professional flight training operation over the last 20 years.
“We intend to build on that long history of success over the coming months and years and provide the North-East with a private and commercial flight training organisation that will be the envy of the rest of the UK.”
