DLH Web Consultancy, in Middlesbrough, expands workforce
A WEB consultancy firm, run by a North-East entrepreneur, has recruited more than 20 staff, including university graduates and unemployed workers, in less than a year.
Stephen Hall has taken on Teesside University graduates and other workers to build DLH Web Consultancy, in Middlesbrough.
Mr Hall says formerly unemployed staff make up more than half of the company’s 24-strong workforce, who now operate from its expanded DigitalCity Boho One premises.
The 32-year-old, from Linthorpe, in Middlesbrough, who is a Teesside University media graduate, said: “We help everyone, from small businesses to larger companies, to manage their websites and social media, and look after more than 600 websites across the country.
“Most people recognise they need a web presence but a lot of them don’t know how to set up their own websites, and we help everyone from builders to window cleaners, creating and maintain websites to help them grow.
“Our workforce is essential in making the business a success, and having worked in a number of call centres where the atmosphere could be tense, I knew I needed to build a different kind of work environment.
“We are a diverse bunch that works well together.”
Stuart Smith, 25, from Marton, near Middlesbrough, was an unemployed computer science graduate before being taken on as a content writer.
He said: “I had been unemployed for about five months and was looking for a position that used my skills so this job was perfect.”
