Child's Play Private Nursery, in Ferryhill, aims to build on success
A NURSERY that created six jobs hopes to expand its workforce again.
Child’s Play Private Nursery opened in Ferryhill, County Durham, in January, with four families registered.
The company, which was founded by 24-year-old Laura Leigh Wayman, now has about 50 families on its books, and expects a further swell in numbers when the new school year starts in September.
It employs six people as well Miss Wayman, and wants to take on two further workers.
Miss Wayman, who started the nursery at the Ferryhill Community Hub, formerly known as Ferryhill Leisure Centre, said she was amazed with its rapid growth.
She said: “I grew up in Ferryhill and knew there was a need for a business like this, but it has really taken off.”
She has turned a former sunbed room into a space for children up to three-years-old, with a second used by youngsters between three and five, and plans to open a third section after creating an outdoor area.
She said: “It is not plastic fantastic and one of our main passions is to teach children while they play, and in our garden they can climb and build in a natural environment.”
