Eemits, in Billingham, supplies 200 digital radios for firefighters

A NORTH-EAST technology firm continues to grow after after agreeing a deal to supply life saving equipment to firefighters.

Eemits, based in Billingham, near Stockton, has supplied 200 digital radios to Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, which will be used by crews during emergency operations.

The radios will allow firefighters to send increased data information through their radios, which have larger battery life and a stronger signal in extreme conditions.

The company, which makes tailor-made communication systems, has also updated the fire service's network from analogue to digital.

It is the latest in an number of deals won by Eemits from outside the North-East, after it previously supplied specialist radios to South Lanarkshire Council, in Scotland, for its fleet of 77 gritter vehicles, as well as equipment for transport group Metrobus and the Royal College of General Practitioners, in London.

Craig Matthew, Eemits managing director, said: “This is a key milestone for us, it further enhances our market share outside of the region and to attract such a prestigious customer is fantastic.”
