A WATER supply company responsible for maintaining a major part of North-East's network has won a safety award.
Fastflow Pipeline Services (FPS), in Washington, Wearside, picked up a British Safety Council International Safety Award for the standard of its work on installations and repairs on 450sq miles of Northumbrian Water's network.
The company, which employs about 280 people, will pick up the accolade in a ceremony at Grosvenor House, in London, in April.
Neil Armstrong, FPS owner and chief executive, said: “We have invested a great deal of effort in health and safety in recent years so it is pleasing to see that this has been recognised by such a highly respected organisation.
“The safety of our people and those where we carry out work is our top priority, a good safety record means we are operating correctly and efficiently which is good for business.”
