NORTH-EAST baker Greggs has invested in new security measures after a rise in attempted burglaries.
The company is using SmartWater spray, which covers intruders with an invisible liquid and can only been seen under UV lighting.
The move comes after the pies, pasties and sausage roll chain experienced a number of attempted burglaries and Home Office figures revealed an increase in retail burglaries in the new year.
Bruce Duncan, Greggs' retail loss prevention manager, said: “Our number one priority is to protect our colleagues while preventing future incidents occurring.”
