Final call to enter the 2013 North East property awards

PROPERTY professionals across the region are being urged not to miss out on a chance to have their achievements recognised and rewarded at the 2013 RICS North East Renaissance Awards.

To be in with a chance of winning one of the awards, entry forms must be submitted by Friday January 18.

There are eight categories – Building Conservation, Regeneration, Infrastructure, Community Benefit, Commercial, Design and Innovation, Residential, Tourism and Leisure. There is also a Project of the Year accolade, which is awarded to the built scheme judged to have scored the highest across all areas.

The 2012 Project of the Year title went to The Toffee Factory in Newcastle for its refurbishment, which has brought new life and purpose to a derelict warehouse, enabling it to become an exciting hub for the city’s digital and creative businesses.

Other winners last year included Northwood Primary School, Darlington (Design & Innovation) and Birtley Young People’s Club, Gateshead (Community Benefit) – both of which gained national recognition after winning their respective categories at the 2012 RICS Awards Grand Final, held in October at The Savoy, London.

David Furniss, chair of the RICS North East Renaissance Awards’ judging panel, said: “The awards recognise the region’s top talent and help to significantly raise the profile of the projects which win or are short-listed, not to mention the reputation of the people, organisations and companies involved.”

Judging will take place across the next few months, before the winners are announced at a glittering black-tie dinner on Friday April 19 at the Civic Centre in Newcastle.
