WILDLIFE HAVEN: Acorn Dairy directors Caroline and Graham Tweddle with some of their dairy cows
AN organic dairy has won an award for the welfare of its animals.
Acorn Dairy, which has herds in Archdeacon Newton, near Darlington, and Leyburn, North Yorkshire, has been awarded the Good Dairy Award by Compassion in World Farming, the international welfare campaign group.
The accolade comes on the heels of the Soil Association Organic Dairy of the Year titled it received last month, the culmination of more than a decade of work by brother and sister Caroline and Graham Tweddle and their father Gordon.
Ms Tweddle said: “We are fervent believers in organic farming which goes hand in hand with nature. Our herd rewards us with milk which is tastier and much better for you than white water and the farm has become a haven for wildlife which we also enjoy.”
