LATIMER Hinks solicitor Helen Thomas, who has been with the firm since 2003, has become an Associate Member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).

She can advise clients on a wide range of contentious issues surrounding Wills, Trusts, Inheritance and the Court of Protection often where families are in conflict.

Ms Thomas, who can apply for full ACTAPS status in 2015, studied for the qualification for two years, and becomes one of only a handful of qualified lawyers in the North East to gain associate accreditation.

She said: “Issues surrounding wills and inheritance can be a delicate subject for families, and I try very hard to handle each and every case with tact and sensitivity. I have specialised in private client work, initially working on probate matters, drafting wills and trust deeds but have also been involved in difficult cases as a litigator.

“As both a private client and a litigation practitioner I feel I have a distinct advantage which often helps secure cost effective solutions for clients. I am delighted to have gained associate membership to ACTAPS. It was hard work but it has paid off.”

Anne Elliott, marketing partner at Latimer Hinks Solicitors, said: “I would like to congratulate Helen on her hard work as a result of which she has achieved a prestigious qualification.

“The knowledge she has gained as a result of achieving ACTAPS recognition will be of great benefit and add an extra dimension to our already experienced Private Client team.”
