A PROFESSION in law has fallen down the list of careers parents want for their children, a report has revealed.

A survey said the majority of parents raising 11 to 16-year-olds wanted youngsters to go into medicine.

The findings were revealed by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and focus on responses from 771 couples.

It said just four per cent of those questioned wanted their children to go into law, which was lower than the seven per cent who chose engineering, and ten per cent who identified teaching.

Administration roles were bottom of the list with just one per cent.

William Webb, IET president, said: “We must not underestimate the important role mums and dads play in influencing their children’s career choice.”
