A SOLICITOR is embarking on a charity cycling challenge.

Nicola Neilson, partner and commercial property expert at Latimer Hinks Solicitors, in Darlington, is taking part in a 62-mile event in London.

The test, called Woman v Cancer Ride the Night, is raising money for Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

Ms Neilson, who only started cycling last month, aims to complete the feat in six-and-a-half hours.

She has already raised more than £260 for the charities.

She said: “It will be a great personal challenge for me, but is one that I am determined to complete as it will benefit three fantastic causes.

“I haven’t cycled since I was a child, but I have managed a number of long distance rides over the last few weeks, as well as getting in some road cycling in the evenings.

“The charities do an amazing amount of work to raise awareness and I'm delighted to help raise money for them all.”

Anne Elliott, Latimer Hinks' marketing partner, added: “The fact Nicola has only started cycling is a testament to her character that she is willing to participate in such a demanding race for charity.”

The bike ride takes place on Saturday, May 31.
