LEGAL experts are lending their knowledge to a North-East business organisation.

Watson Burton, which has offices in Newcastle, has joined the North East Chamber of Commerce’s (NECC) Partners programme.

The scheme allows businesses to work with the NECC to deliver policy aims. Duncan Reid, Watson Burton's head of corporate, said: “We are passionate about North-East business and helping our region reach its full potential.

“Membership of Partners is an opportunity to work with people from the business community who are equally as passionate and committed as we are.”

The NECC's Partners programmes was introduced nearly seven years ago and now has 22 members.

Partners are selected to represent businesses across the range of sectors and are part of an exclusive group of members that work with NECC to influence and shape its agenda.

Ross Smith, NECC director of policy, added: “The NECC and the wider business community has benefited enormously from the way Partners have supported key NECC policy developments, such as making sure smaller businesses have a fair crack at large public sector contracts.

“We very much look forward to value the experience of Watson Burton and what the company will bring to Partners’ contribution to the North-East's economic landscape.”
