SQUARE One Law’s training partner, Barney Frith has welcomed two new trainee solicitors to the firm, Jenny Atkin and Ian Osborn.
The commercial law firm has quickly established a strong presence in the region since its launch last year and now has nine partners in a team of 36.
He said: “We have had an extremely busy first year and attracted some of the region’s top legal talent. Our future growth means we also need to develop our own rising stars and Jenny and Ian will join our second year trainee, Lucy Bailey.
“We held an open day earlier this year and were extremely encouraged to see the high level of ability that is emerging from the region’s universities. In Jenny and Ian we believe we have secured two emerging stars and look forward to helping them develop their careers with Square One Law.”
Newcastle-born Jenny was educated at Walbottle Technology College and graduated from Northumbria University in July this year.
Jenny said:” Whilst at university I was principally interested in my commercial law modules and I really enjoyed being part of a small commercial team in Northumbria’s Student Law Office.
“I gained valuable experience working with my own clients to help them to achieve their goals. I was delighted to be offered a training contract with this exciting new firm.
“I am currently working in the litigation department and I am really enjoying working on a wide variety of high quality work.”
Ian studied both the Solicitor’s Exempting Degree and the MSc Business with Legal Management Masters at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle. His first seat is with the corporate and commercial department.
Ian said:”During my Masters I studied the challenges facing the legal sector and wanted to train with a law firm who think outside of the box in terms of their strategy and business plan, rather than conforming to the widely accepted model.
“I am extremely pleased to have been selected as one of  two trainees by Square One Law as I know competition for the places was very tough. This new entrepreneurial firm is attracting very talented lawyers, so I’m very excited about my future career at the firm.”
