THE Co-operative Group is expected to establish a dedicated group of dairy farmers to supply it with milk.
Peter Marks, chief executive, met Peter Kendall, NFU president, and Gwyn Jones, NFU dairy board chairman, and said they were committed to establishing a dedicated group of milk suppliers..
Mr Jones said: “The Co-operative appears very sympathetic to the current dairy situation and has informed me that it will begin developing plans to set up closer relationships with its suppliers when its integration of Somerfield is at a sufficiently advanced stage.”
