Barker takes over at LSH Newcastle
LAMBERT Smith Hampton's
(LSH) Newcastle operation
has appointed
Darron Barker as head of
office. An experienced
surveyor, Newcastle-born Darron
has been a key part of the LSH set
up since the national firm established
a Newcastle office in 2002.
He will lead a team of 23 staff as
the company pursues a new strategy
for national growth. This strategy
will see the office team expand
and new job opportunities created
at LSH.
Based in Grey Street, LSH has already
seen its Newcastle office expand
significantly over the six
years it has been in operation.
Darron takes on the head of office
role as LSH is seeking to capitalise
on its growing network of
clients and partnerships in the city
and across the North-East.
"I have lived in the North-East all
my life," said Darron. "I am passionate
about Newcastle and the region.
"Working in the property industry
gives you the chance to make a
real difference and no-one can
argue with the impressive changes
we have seen as the city redevelops
itself and grows its economy.
"LSH wants to be at the centre of
this change and I think we have excellent
opportunities to advise our
clients on how they can get the best
from their property, whether they
are occupiers, landowners or developers.
"That's my mission as I take on
this exciting new role and I am relishing
the opportunity."
LSH's business is based on its extensive
national network spanning
the UK and Ireland and on the combination
of local expertise, backed
by national strength, which it can
offer to its clients.
Following a change of ownership
in 2007, LSH is pursuing an ambitious
strategy for growth by focusing
on maximising the power of
this national network and of its
1,000-strong team of property experts.
From its Newcastle office, LSH
works with some of the leading
names in the city and across the
North-East, including Gladman
Developments, Nexus, Goodman,
and City & Northern.
LSH also works with a number of
major public sector clients, including
One Northeast and Northumberland
County Council. The team
recently advised Newcastle University
in relation to certain of its
property assets.
"This is an interesting period for
the economy and for the commercial
property market," added Darron.
"As times look like they might be
getting tougher, knowing how to
maximise the value or the potential
of your property - whether you are
talking about leasehold or freehold
- can have a major impact on profitability
and the bottom line."
Darron, who specialises in professional
services, has more than 20
years of industry experience.
Darron has been married to Jane
for 18 years and has two sons, Adam
and Elliot aged 14 and 10 respectively.
He lives in Ponteland and is
a keen golfer playing to a handicap
of three.
He also played semi-professional
football for Whitley Bay and Tow
Law.
Darron takes over the role from
David Nicholson, who has moved
on from LSH.
