Insolvency trade body R3 appoints new North-East chairman

THE trade body for insolvency practitioners has appointed a new regional chairman.

Steve Ross, a director in the Corporate Recovery department of RSM Tenon in Sunderland, will serve a two-year term as chairman of R3.

He takes over the role from Linda Farish, director of Recovery & Insolvency at Newcastle-based accountants RMT, who will now serve as R3's regional council member.

Mr Ross said: "Insolvency practitioners play a crucial, but often unrecognised role in saving businesses that would otherwise cease to exist, and part of R3's work is to raise awareness of the positive impact that our profession has in terms of the economy and employment.

"I want to build on the excellent work that Linda has done during her term as chair and continue to demonstrate how insolvency professionals help both individuals and companies that are facing financial difficulties find ways to mitigate and address their situations.

"With the latest figures showing that corporate insolvencies are rising, the work done by insolvency practitioners has never been more visible or important in supporting the North-East economy's ongoing recovery from recession, and it's a real honour to be leading R3's activity in the North-East at such a significant time for the profession."
