A BUSINESS development organisation has started a ninety day consultation with staff after having its budget slashed in the wake of public spending cuts.

Business Link Yorkshire, employing 430, could make up to 125 redundancies after having its budget cut by £4.4m.

The majority of the 17per cent reduction in the organisation's budget comes as a result of cuts in funding from regional development agency Yorkshire Forward.

Staff will be invited to apply for voluntary redundancy, but there are likely to be compulsory redundancies as the company seeks to reduce its size.
