AN award-winning landscape architect has clinched a contract for an urban regeneration project in the region.

TGP Landscape Architects is celebrating after also being chosen to carry out a further stage of a major scheme in Newcastle.

The Durham City-based company was chosen by Newcastle City Council to carry out the development phase for the renovation of Exhibition Park.

News of the successful bid was announced as TGP also secured a deal to carry out work on the next stage of a project at the former Maynards toffee factory, in Ouseburn, Newcastle.

The company had already been working on early stages of the scheme with 1NG and Newcastle-based Xsite Architecture, which will transform the old factory into a home for creative businesses in a £6m project.

Director Chris Davis said: “It has been an exciting two years that has seen us awarded contracts across the UK.

“We are delighted to have been chosen by Newcastle City Council for the Exhibition Park contract.

“We decided to invest in revamping the website as part of a wider marketing strategy at the start of 2010. We plan to grow the business further and these contracts are a step in the right direction.”

TGP is also working on a host of other schemes across the region, and its expertise is being used with The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, on creating a masterplan for the museum’s park.
