WITH fewer than 100 days to go to the start of the World Cup and just over two years to the start of the 2012 London Olympics, a seminar is being held to show how firms can benefit from export opportunities offered by the events.
UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) is holding the free Developing International Trade Through Sport event at Newcastle’s St James’ Park on Tuesday, March 23, which will bring together a host of specialist speakers to give advice and one-to-one clinics for delegates who hope to use international sport as a way into the export market.
The event is open to companies outside of the sports industry and businesses that could benefit from any aspect of exporting can attend.
John Doolan, UKTI international trade advisor, said: “This seminar is really for anyone who is interested in exporting goods and services from the North-East.
“It may be too late for this year, but with global events coming in terms of football, rugby, cricket and athletics, to name but a few, there is plenty of opportunity for North-East companies to go for gold and get involved in this important and growing sector. It really is a case of anything from toilet rolls to infrastructure works that could benefit from exports from this region and we urge anyone who is interested to come along.”
