Takeover of car dealer is big success

A CAR dealership taken over in December has taken on new staff and already turned over more than £1m in car sales.

Since Vertu Motors bought Renault dealership David Penman Cars, in Haughton Road, Darlington, changing the name to Bristol Street Darlington, it has appointed a new branch manager and business manager.

Neil Ferguson, Renault regional director of Bristol Street Motors, said: “Overall, we could not have wished for a better start to business in Darlington.

“Owing to increasing levels of demand, we’ve strengthened the existing high quality team with the appointment of new staff members.

“As well as sales, we’ve had an excellent month in the service department and have opened an MoT testing station at the end of January where we service all makes and models, not just Renaults.”

The dealership in Haughton Road employs about 20 staff.

Jeff Parkin has been appointed as branch manager and has moved across the group from the Motor Nation site, in Darlington.

He is joined by Sam Dyball who is the site’s new business manager, while the sales team will increase from four to six this month.

The Vertu Motors group now operates six dealerships in the North-East and 60 sales outlets in total under the Bristol Street Motors and Bristol Street Motor Nation brand names.
