Expansion creates three staff vacancies

A ROAD repair company will take on three members of staff following a recent expansion.

Velocity, based in Hendon, Sunderland, employs 22 full-time staff, and is now looking to employ a further three.

The company, which works with local authorities across the UK, has received support from Sunderland City Council and was awarded a premises and equipment grant for its expansion.

The company builds, hires out and sells road repair equipment to local authorities and contractors.

It also provides crew to operate road repair machines, offers training for council operators and provides spare parts for client-owned machines, as well as running a driver hire agency supplying drivers to local businesses.

Richard Jackson, owner and manager of Velocity, said: “Because of the company’s ongoing success, more jobs have been created. We also aim to create jobs for another three technicians over the coming months.”

Council leader, Councillor Paul Watson, said: “We are committed to supporting the city’s new and developing businesses and were delighted to help with Velocity’s expansion.”
