Ladies see discount venture launched

8:32am Friday 24th July 2009

A NORTH-EAST teenage enterpreneur will officially unveil his latest business venture at Newcastle Racecourse’s Ladies’ Day tomorrow.

Jonathan Grubin, 18, from Newcastle, will launch his Live Newcastle card venture to racegoers with a trade stand at the event.

The discount card offers its members discounts at some of the region’s trendiest places to eat, drink and shop.

It is the latest venture from Mr Grubin, already a serial entrepreneur, who set up his first business, MiniG Media Ltd, at the age of 14. Already, despite still being a teenager, he is one of the best-known budding business people in the region.

Nearly 50 companies have signed up to Live Newcastle, to give their discounts to members, including clothing stores, clubs, cafes, restaurants and entertainment venues.

Mr Grubin said: “I’ve been working on this for some time now and I’m happy that it has finally come to fruition and that we are officially launching this at Ladies’ Day.

“During a recession, consumers look to spend less without compromising on quality, likewise retailers and other businesses are looking for ways to increase footfall.

“The Live Newcastle card aims to achieve both and will also help to boost the North East’s economy by giving its members an incentive to ‘think North East’ when it comes to spending habits.”
