A LIVESTOCK keeper who has served 36 years has been honoured for his work. John Arnold Leng works on the Chapelgarth Estate, for the Meynell Hall and Dixons Plantations, in Stokesley, North Yorkshire. Mr Leng, 58, was one of 13 people presented with a long service award by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society at the Great Yorkshire Show last week. He said: “I am very proud of my achievement.”
Each winner was given a certificate and a tankard, plus free entry for life to the show. Other recipients were general farm worker Russ Gowlett, of Newton-on-Ouse, North Yorkshire, and forester Neil Thompson, from Kildale, near Whitby, who both have 35 years of service.
JOINING TEAM: Professor Morten Lau, from Newcastle University’s Business School, is to be part of pioneering research into the impact of traffic congestion charges on behaviour. He forms part of an international team of researchers who have received $2m from the United States Federal Government. Prof Lau is a world-respected authority of risk and its effects on human behaviour.
SHRED PLAN: Sunderland City Council has appointed Shred Easy, one the country’s leading confidential waste companies, as its official confidential data destruction company. Shred Easy will service the council’s two main sites in Sunderland, providing more than 30 secure containers for shredding on-site.
STAFF TRAINING: Teesside company Coast and Country Housing is helping staff to improve customer service skills while achieving a qualification. Twenty-two contact centre, housing office and repairs service staff, from its Dormanstown headquarters and its offices in Grangetown and Skelton, are working towards an NVQ level two in customer service.
