Emmerdale shop to stock local produce

FOOD producers from across North Yorkshire have been chosen as suppliers to the new farm store in Emmerdale.

The Wylde’s Home Farm Fayre shop is opening on the ITV soap later this week, and producers have decided to use local companies as suppliers.

Companies including cheesemakers Shepherd’s Purse, the Wensleydale Creamery and The Balloon Tree farmshop will see their products featured on screen and promoted on a national platform.

Deliciouslyorkshire, the consumer brand for the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber, which champions food and drink from the region, has also been chosen to supply products, including display stands, aprons and T-shirts.

Martin Radmall, from the Emmerdale production buying team, said: “The Emmerdale farmshop will have similar messages to the Regional Food Group, such as supporting local producers and products and buying seasonal, local food.

“We’re very pleased to include such high-quality products from the region. The Emmerdale families will be spoilt for choice.”

Jonathan Knight, chief executive of the Regional Food Group, said: “Our members should be very proud that their products will be seen on a national platform.

“The exposure will help to highlight to the rest of the UK how important Yorkshire’s produce is and, hopefully, will encourage people to think about why regional food is so important.”
