LEGAL firm Punch Robson has been selected by the Land Registry to help pilot new online services that could speed up conveyancing transactions and help drive down the cost to house buyers and sellers.
Land Registry Direct, the Land Registry’s existing online information service for business users, will be withdrawn next year and replaced by the Land Registry portal – effectively a gateway to all of the government agency’s electronic services, including e-conveyancing.
Tees Valley-based Punch Robson was asked by the Land Registry to help trial the portal as one of the UK’s top 100 legal firms for the volume of re-mortgage applications.
Solicitor Katherine Eaton, of the firm’s conveyancing team, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to help the Land Registry test its new online service, which will not only improve the speed and efficiency of access to information needed by conveyancers such as ourselves, but in doing so will enable us to pass on cost savings to our customers, namely property buyers and sellers.”
