A FAMILY-RUN business used to working for builders across the UK has made itself a new home.

Swift Timber Homes has moved from High Etherley, near Bishop Auckland, to new premises in nearby St Helen Auckland.

The site is seven times bigger than its previous address so it can continue its expansion which will soon include boosting its 25-strong workforce to around 40.

Swift Timber Homes has supplied timber frame buildings throughout the UK to main contractors, property developers and house builders along with producing bespoke builds for almost 20 years.

The move also brings the former Solaglas site, on Greenfields Industrial Estate, back into use after it stood empty for a decade.

Company founder and managing director Neil Foody runs the business with daughter Emma, who brings in new customers and manages the factory, and son Jody, who manages the site work and customer satisfaction.

He said: "The move has given Swift Timber Homes the opportunity to plan ahead and expand the team, providing jobs in the local communities.

"We have long-term relationships with a range of companies, built up over years of trading, those ongoing partnerships are based on building quality homes and commercial properties. We get it right first time– our customers come back to us again and again."
