AN exciting new digital business magazine has been launched by the publishers of The Northern Echo.

Business Echo aims to get readers closer to the big stories from industry, commerce and innovation across the North-East and North Yorkshire.

The free, interactive, 68-page magazine – a sister publication to The Northern Echo’s daily business coverage – has gone live today, and aims to carve a niche in the evolving media landscape.

A first for publisher Newsquest, it features video clips, infographics and animated pages, providing readers with greater insight into the people and companies making the headlines.

Reviving the name previously used in The Northern Echo’s weekly print supplement, the magazine includes digital features designed to make it easier for readers to keep up-to-date while on the go.

The first edition features Darlington-born Nifco UK boss Mike Matthews, who recalls his childhood and time as an aspiring apprentice at South West Durham Training, based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

It also includes former Newcastle Airport boss Davey Laws’ plans for growth in his new role as chief executive at Leeds Bradford Airport, while Crafter’s Companion founder Sara Davies reveals her expansion blueprint for the Aycliffe business she founded while at university.

Editor Steven Hugill said: “We’re delighted to be launching this magazine; it’s an exciting product and one I’m sure will be enjoyed by readers.

“We know the business world can be a busy place and that there are a lot of print magazines already in the marketplace, so we wanted to do something different, which would appeal to readers who don’t have the time to read a newspaper in the traditional way.

“Business Echo will allow them to keep up-to-date with the biggest stories, in-depth features and analysis through their PC or on the move via tablets and mobile phones.”
